Morning all …

Good morning crafters, you’ve got me today as our poor Dawny has had a few problems with the horrible weather we’ve been having here in the UK and couldn’t do her post this morning

She’s been without power and of course that has a knock on effect to other things, what a nightmare, I hope you all escaped the storms and the awful floods that we’ve been seeing on the news. Thankfully we seem to miss the worst of it here and just end up with everyone’s recycling all over the place when the bins blow over!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed a few days off, it’s been a quiet one for us this year and to be honest it’s been really nice, I’m getting too old (and lazy) to do hectic!

This is a Christmas card that I made for my friend’s new baby nephew. It was meant to be my Papertake Weekly card before Christmas and I just never found time to take a picture so I’m happy to be able to share it with you today…

The cute image is called Just Arrived and is one of our new baby stamps which can be used for so many occasions

This one was from my colouring lesson using Distress Inks, our lovely Gretha spent some time teaching me when she came over in November, thank you so much Gretha (although I daren't tell my husband that I’ve gone off my Copics and Promarkers just as I’ve bought them all!!) Gretha also adds a touch of Twinkling H20 on top which adds some subtle sparkle and a bit more depth of colour than you get from the ink   …I like the effect very much

*

I used gorgeous Fancy Pants papers which matched perfectly and made a little tuck away tag with my DooHickey star die and put his name on it

The trees are DooHickey slender fir dies. These Magnolia DooHickey dies are very popular and we have a selection available in the shop now (the shop re-opens on January 6th)

Hope you like it, thanks so much for stopping by everyone and I’ll be back on New Year’s Day with the rest of my top picks from 2013

Our Debbie will be here tomorrow with another lovely card so make sure you pop by if you get a minute

xx

  1. A nice quiet Christmas in New Zealand, no storms and no drama thankfully. The distress inks are very subtle, they have an almost water color like effect. Awesome card.

  9. So sorry to hear that Dawny has lost her power, it must have been a really difficult time for her. Lots of homes near us did too so we feel very lucky that we still had ours.
I am glad you had a good Christmas Anne. Your card is gorgeous, adorable image coloured so beautifully and I love the papers too.

  11. So sorry to hear about poor Dawny losing her power! I hope it's back on soon for her and everyone else in that situation :( I too havnt used distress inks to colour with. I have the full set of spectrum noirs, so I am very lucky. I would love the set of tim holtz distress markers too though. I have quite a few whispers pens! Would they work similar maybe? Love this card you have created Anne. Is Lotv having a sale when they reopen? X

  13. Yes we´ve heard about the terrible weather over there and we´ve got our share here too, though it´s not been quite as bad thoug, and thanks god for that, as it´s been more than enough as it has been LOL. Hope Dawny isn´t too bad hurt and she´ll be back here soon.
A beautiful card here really cute, and one I´ll need next year, as I was just told on Christmaseve, that my youngerst son is expecting a little prince in May. The very first in our family after only having girls here. 7 of them aged 7 to 19, so it´s about time to finally get a little boy, don´t you think? ha ha ha, but also a challenge to me, as I have no idea about making anything for boys, so guess I have some learning for 2014, but that´s a good chalenge thoug ha ha ha.
have a wonderful New year everyone and may it be the best ever for all of us in any ways.

  14. This is such a gorgeous baby Christmas card! Sorry to hear about how the storms affected Dawny and hope her power is soon restored. We had bad gales here but no where near as bad as elsewhere. We have a large chicken coop and the wind took the roof right off Monday night, so my husband and his Dad spent quite some time Christmas Eve putting it back on, but the hens were fine and thankfully that was the worst of it for us. 16. It's a gorgeous card Anne, just lovely! We've had our fair share of storms and power cuts on our trip to Scotland for Christmas, including the odd close call, but really we can't complain. Everyone's happy and healthy (or at least, no more unhealthy than they were before, lol), and that's the most important thing! My thoughts go out to those not so lucky! x

  17. Hi Anne, gorgeous card, your colouring is amazing. As a Distress Ink addict, - Welcome to the DI world!!Lol! I do occasionally use Copics and Promarkers but always return to DI. The pleasure and satisfaction from painting with them is incredible. I also used to be an H20 addict and they still come out now and then. They are great for making background papers, as I used to Demo them in a Craft Shop. Have a great New Year. Hugs, Carol S.xx

  19. I got this stamp for Christmas, I asked my sister for a few of the baby stamps and she got me all of them, I'm such a lucky girl to have such amazing sisters :) Gorgeous Christmas card Anne, I really like the colours, it's perfect! We got bad weather here too - we live on a hill so never have to worry about floods, but whatever way the wind was blowing, a load of rainwater ended up in the house anyway. Thinking of all those who were in reaaally bad areas, hope everything's ok!
