Hello there!  Hope you are all having a beautiful weekend, and gearing up for the New Year!

Gosh, can you believe it's going to be 2013??  Didn't the 2012 just start ... like ... a month ago?!  LOL!  Seems like when I was younger, I wished to be older .. faster.  Now that I'm older .. oh boy .. I sure got my wish didn't I?  haha!!

Well, I've made a card using this very lovely image "If Friends Were Flowers" from the newest release.  I really love how this image can be used for so many different occasions .. birthdays, friendship, love, get well soon, and other themes as well.  :)

Thank you so much for coming by and I wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Let's Party!

Just a few more days till New Year's Eve! I hope everyone had the most amazing Christmas!!!

This little guy is celebrating bring in 2013!

The stamp is called "Let's Party".  I colored it with distress inks and the papers are from the gorgeous Nitwits pad called "Bonnets and Bowties".  I was excited to use one of my new distress ink colors, Picked Raspberries, for the package.  I'm glad to see a few brighter shades coming out.  They work perfectly with this paper.

Be safe everyone on New Year's Eve!

Hugs, Dena

Merry Christmas …

Good morning crafters, I wonder if anyone is on here today?
I hope Santa brought you some lovely crafty goodies and that you’re all enjoying your Christmas morning so far  ….have you got that turkey in the oven yet?

***

Just in case anyone has popped by, as promised here are a few of my favourite cards from  2012 by our fabulous design team …I hope you’ve been enjoying the lovely cards they’ve been putting on for you over the past couple of weeks

***

This first one is by our Bev, I love the colours she’s used and its perfect,  I think any Mum would be thrilled to receive this
Teddy Bouquet is one of our older stamps but still very popular and I can see why when I look at this lovely card

Claudia made this little post it note holder for us earlier in the year and I’ve always loved it
It’s so simple but it doesn’t need anything else …what a lovely little gift for someone
She’s used the stamp On The Garden Wall and coloured the image with Copics

This one is by Dawny …and as usual with her cards you need your sunglasses on to view!
Dawny uses gorgeous bright colour combinations on her cards and they look fab in our showroom
This stamp is Time For A Cuppa

These 2 tags were made by the very lovely Elise, she sent them to us and the pictures don’t do them justice  …they are just gorgeous!
She’s used the Geisha Companion Set and the Scroll Sentiments

Finally today a matching card and tag from our Dena.
Again the pictures just don’t them justice, it’s hard to pick favourites from so many amazing cards but I just love everything about this lovely set that she’s made with our Dainty Dancing stamp

***

I do hope you like my choices, I’ll be back on New Year’s day with the rest of my top picks from the past year

There will still be a new card on here everyday throughout the holidays so keep stopping by   …and don’t forget the Winter Sale on our website if you want to get a few bargains with your Christmas money

A New Baby.

Hi there crafty friends!

Here's a card I made using the new 'Bath Time' stamp.
I just love the way this card came out. I tried to make it look like it was 'foggy' from the hot bath.
I'm not sure I accomplished that look. But I still like it.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.
I'm looking forward to bringing the New Year with you all!
Hugs, Mindy

Light the Way...Christmas decoration.

Hi..really lovely to be here today
and hope you are doing ok?
a little Winters scene decoration with the very sweet
"Light the Way" image...

I have coloured with distress markers and
used lots of puff white embossing powder for the snow.
The background is stamped with
a few of the Christmas Grungy Messages stamps
and then i used a sizzix quilting die to
cut the patchwork pieces.
Glued them together so that i could cut
the large circle shape with a nestabilities die.
There is a little shrink plastic Noel on
the fence which is also from the grungy messages set
and the circle sentiment is from the postmarks stamp sheet.

thank you for stopping by,have a lovely day.

*** Happy Christmas***
hugs all,Lou.xxx

Winter Flurries

Good morning folks, I want to share a different style of card I made a while ago using Lili of the Valley's clear stamp sets called 'Christmas Icons'. I love the beautiful stamps in this set, and I actually use the snowflakes from it quite often on other projects, especially for backgrounds. There are so many different styles in different sizes that it's perfect for creating your own patterns.

A little about how I made the card... I cut some snowy drift shapes from sticky notes freehand and used them to mask off areas of snow drifts. I carefully sponged white pigment ink to create the highlights, and the dark paper showing through became the shadows of the snow. Totally opposite from what you would do on white paper.

Next I stamped a lot of pretty snowflakes in the same white pigment ink (this is the quick drying kind like Fresh Inks from Impress Stamps, A|Muse Studios, Papertrey Ink, etc. etc.). Then stamped and embossed the gorgeous swirly tree.

To create the 'falling snow' effect I took an old toothbrush and spattered white acrylic paint over the entire thing. Takes a bit of practice, but this technique is one of my favorites from my days of decorative painting. You simply apply a dab of white paint onto your palette, wet an old toothbrush with water, shake off the excess, then dab the bristles into your paint until it's slightly watery, but not too wet. Getting the right consistency takes a bit of playing around, so test it on scrap paper before spattering your final project. You just run your finger over the bristles while aiming it at your paper. Depending on how wet or dry your paint is will determine how fine a speckle you get.

The banner was made from a long strip of double sided pattern paper, notched on the ends with a square punch and scored/folded in two places. The sentiments are from 'set 26- Simply Spohisticated'.

And there you have it, a beautiful scenic Christmas card! Hope you like it, have a great day!

Supplies: White embossing powder, white pigment ink, sponge dauber, white acrylic paint, old toothbrush, satin ribbon, baker's twine, silver bell charm, 1" square punch, Scor Pal

I’m going to finish with a couple of my favourite cards from the past year

When I saw this one from Kathy it really caught my attention, she’s very clever at making these little scenes using paper and fabric and they make for a very special card. She made this using Light The Way from our Christmas people collection  …

Light The Way - Kathy

My second card is by Gretha and she’s used Fairy With Dove from our Fairies and Mermaids set. I think it was the colour scheme that made this one stand out for me, it’s so hard to use reds and keep it ‘pretty’ without being too bright or bold and I think the colours on here are just beautiful

Fairy With Dove - Gretha

I’ll be back on Christmas day and New Year’s day with more of my favourites from 2012. We have a fabulous DT who make the most amazing cards to showcase our stamps so it was hard for me to pick a favourite for each of them!

***

All that’s left is for me to say thank you so much for supporting our blogs and for your custom throughout the year. We have some exciting new products for 2013 and can’t wait to show you them

Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year from us all at Lili of the Valley

A Christmas exploding box …

Good  morning bloggers, I hope you all had a lovely weekend and got all your Christmas shopping done. I’ve done most of mine on the internet this year, I’m getting grumpier by the year   …I used to really enjoy it but I just can’t face the shops now when they’re busy and I always seem to end up wanting to commit a murder!

Onto todays post, if some of you have seen this before I apologise but I couldn’t resist putting it on again for our new visitors

Our Kathy made this gorgeous exploding box using the cute Musical Christmas stamp. You can get this stamp at the moment in our Winter Sale for just £3.00 (while stocks last)

There is a tutorial that Kathy kindly put together for us for making one of these boxes on our website. It’s also in the labels down the right hand side of this page under ‘exploding box’

They are a bit time consuming  but the end result is just so impressive that if you have the time and patience it’s definitely worth having a go

***

Here's the outside, all closed up in a pretty package

…and when you slide off the top, voila! …a little holiday scene and floating snowflakes pop out at you

The little die cut pine trees are decorated with gold tinsel and red pearls

The poinsettias are cut from vellum and sponged with a bit of color before assembling

The snowflakes are frosted with German glass glitter and attached to thin strips of acetate

Wouldn’t this be perfect to send to a very special person this Christmas!

Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow
