A die cut card today ...

Good morning everyone, the weather's not so good today in Leeds today - but haven't we been lucky this last week?
Everyone seems so much brighter when it's sunny - and anything in my house that didn't move has been washed and pegged on the line!!

I hope you've enjoyed all our 'Mum' and 'pink' cards and projects throughout March as well as the sneak peeks of our latest release.

I'm going to finish the month with a card I made for our new showroom using one of the die cut sheets. The image is Rosie Posy, she was one of the very first designs from Lili of the Valley and is still popular. She's on this die cut sheet and also available as a stamp here

Our die cut sheets are great for a quick card, I love stamping and colouring but don't always have the time. They are on A4 sheets which have 6 coloured images that are die cut and ready to pop out and just use as a topper.

Spellbinders circles, stickles, DoCrafts sentiment, K & Co patterned papers, Core'dinations card, Magnolia Doohickey border die, card candi.

The lace and flowers are from The Ribbon Girl who kindly sent me a box of goodies to use on our showroom cards. Mary and Andrea are the nicest girls and they have a fabulous selection of lace, ribbon, flowers and embellishments so do take a look at their website (and say that I sent you!)

That's it from me for today, I have a new blog and my list of followers is slightly lacking compared to that of the rest of our fabulous DT (only by a few thousand lol) so I'd love it if you'd pop by and pay me a visit here

Have a lovely Saturday everyone and make sure you come back tomorrow when we'll have something completely different to show you.

Happy sunny morning peeps.

Dawny P here and it’s another lovely day. It almost feels like Summer and what better thing to have when it’s sunny than …

Strawberries :)

And that’s just what we have for you today as my card features Strawberries which is one of the brand new release, now on sale.

Picture 001c copy

The image was coloured with Copics and these are the shades I used -

Leaves – G99, YG0000, YG01, YG03
Berries – R05, R17, R27, R59

Container – E50, E81

I know from the Copics workshops I’ve done that some people are a bit scared of using reds, but honestly, it’s so easy and this image is about the best I have ever used for reds - you can get a really good result as there are no teeny tiny small areas.

So this is how I coloured the berries on this beautiful  image -

  • Go over all the berries with a layer of R17
  • Add shading detail with R59 – just small amounts here and there and mainly where the berries meet the leaves
  • Blend together using R27 but don’t go right to the edge of the berries
  • Go over everything with R05

A few tips to bear in mind when using reds are -

  • Make sure that you use only good quality card stock – the one that most of us use can be found here
  • Don’t over-wet the card. It may be better to allow a little time for the inks to dry before adding the next layer of colour.
  • If you do get bleeds, don’t try and fix them with the blender pen whatever you do as this will make it worse. It’s better to go around the edge of the image with a contrasting pen as this will cover up any small imperfections and also make your image ‘pop’.

I hope that you’ve found this useful and thank you for stopping by today.

Happy crafting and hugs to all xxx
